Enlisted from Erie County, Pennsylvania, August 20,
1862 and was mustered into United States service at
Erie, Pa., Aug. 26, 1862 as a Private for a term of
three years in Company A, 145th REGIMENT PA. VOLUNTEER
INFANTRY under Captains John W. Reynolds, F.J.
DeSchryver, H. McCray; Colonels Hiram L. Brown and
David B. McCreary. The Regiment was assigned to the
4th Brigade, 1st Division, 2nd Army Corps of the Army
of the Potomac and Comrade Street shared the fortunes
of his Regiment in all its movements and engagements
during his term including the battles of Antietam,
Sept. 17, '62. Fredericksburg, Dec. 13, 1862.
Chancellorsville, Va., May 1 to 4, 1863. Gettysburg,
July 1 to 3, 1863, was WOUNDED here July 2, 1863 by
gunshot in right hip and buckshot in left hand. Stayed
with Regiment. Engaged Cristoe Station Oct. 14, '63.
Mine Run November 26 to 28, 1863. Wilderness May 5 to
7, 1864. Corbina Bridge May 8,1864. Po River, Va., May
10, 1864, and Spotsylvania C.H., Virginia, May 8 to
12, 1864. He was WOUNDED here May 12, 1864 by gunshot
in the right thigh, was treated in field hospital and
U.S. General Hospitals at Fredericksburg, Va., Lincoln
Hospital at Washington, D.C., and Jarvis Hospital at
Baltimore, Md. The regiment further engaged at North
Anna River May 23 to 26. Panucky River May 26 to 28.
